Not to alarm you, but climate change may kill thousands in the U.K. by 2017. This article focuses on the possibility of a super heat wave striking the U.K., but I've seen speculation that just the opposite is to be feared; if the Gulf Stream shuts down, Britain, Ireland, and Northern Europe could actually be facing rapid cooling.
