Tactic, trial balloon, or white flag, the Obama administration is signaling a willingness to dump the public option in favor of non-profit "co-operatives" of the sort that were in the failed ClintonCare plan of the 1990s. MetaFilter is rightfully aghast. But Ezra Klein wrote last month that the public option isn't the ballgame.
