The Himalayas' glaciers may disappear entirely by 2035. But there's good news: 2008 is likely to be only the tenth-warmest year on record, which means the crisis has obviously passed.

The top photo was taken on Aug. 13, 1941 by W.O. Field from photo Station 4 on White Thunder Ridge, Muir Inlet, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Alaska. The bottom photo was taken by Bruce Molnia on Aug. 31, 2004.
